Shut Off,now wont stay running/NEED HELP

Ok, Here is the story... i have a 2000 F-350, 183,xxx miles...Drove for around 100 miles a couple days ago, almost got home, and the motor just cleanly shut off...and then would not restart,no wait to start light or anything...got it home, let it set over night...tryed to start again, and it started up and ran for about 5 seconds then shut back off. Replaced the CPS last night with a OEM ,started it up and then it ran fine for about 3 minutes, then shut back off again, there is also no Check engine light ,tach is not jumping when cranking and there is fuel in the bowl...What could it be ? What are my options ? And just for more info, the motor is completly stock, just straight pipe, Auto transmission....

Welcome to FTE.
From your description of how it shut off, it sounds electrical. I would start checking all the connections on the wiring harness, but with your tach not jumping, it's looking like a failed PCM.

Did you buy it new? Reason I ask is because it may have a chip. I would check that and my PCM connections first.

Here is a writeup on how to install a chip. Just follow the instructions for the PCM R&R. Maybe with the batts disconnected and a reseating of the connection will get you back up and running.

If your PCM ends up toast, DPTuner sells them for a good price.

Certainly doesn't sound like a dead PCM. So the WTS light comes on and goes off as usual and all the silly ding dings work like normal? Is there any clicking under the dash?

Before you go throwing another 250-500 bucks into a new pcm, check the fuses and relays, make sure they are making good contact and properly functioning. one of our PCMs went bad just recently, but it went bad and STAYED bad. PCMs, as a rule, don't Fail...then work...then fail... you get the picture. I'm gonna bet relays on this one.... unless, of course, your new CPS is faulty as well...

well, all 3 in the BJB under the hood (the smaller plastic cover). and the fuse can seem fine and still not be making good contact, but in this case I'm leaning towards those relays

Tenn.... could this be that sensor on the HPOP that you sometimes talk about unplugging to put the truck in "LIMP" mode?

The relays should be tested or replaced. If they are bad, just cleaning THEM won't do it... I know on here somewhere is a post on properly testing them. I'd type it out but for now I have to run to the hosp. to see my bud's new kid...
