Question Odometer Tricks?

I was browsing ebay and found a guy advertising that the oodometer on late model Ford trucks have a diagnostic feature built in. He is selling the "secret" for $1. Does anyone know about this? His ad is at

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00...QQcmdZViewItem

If this is true it would be a niffty thing to know and aid in diagnosing computer codes.

Yah it's true. But don't bother paying 4 bucks w/ shipping for some info that you can find here. :P

Something to do with pushing and holding the trip odometer reset while turning the key on or something. Poke around here you'll be sure to find it.

Please note this only applies to the digital odometer and only certain years of the truck.

I just did it on my 99 f150. I started it up then push and held the reset button until the display read test.

When oil came on it said 000. Does that mean I have no oil pressure? The analog gauge reads that I do.

The dash is nearly all Octal or Hexidecimal number display outputs.
For oil display, a number between 0 and 176 says there is oil pressure above the min 6 psi the sender switch detects.
An open switch or pressure below 6 psi will indicate a number above 176.
I know it does not make a lot of sense but that's the way it's set up.
For example;
Fuel level number display output goes between 0 and 256. This in not the absolute gallons or liters, but numbers representing the markings as 0 to 18 as a short , low, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full, full stop and open sender indications.
Battery voltage is much the same with narrower limits.
Normal range = numbers between 125 and 214 representing the high and low limits of normal.
Engine temp = normal range of 60 to 120 on the readout.
There are at least 22 DTC B, C, and U codes represented. But they only support troubleshooting certain inputs from the engine and other systems.
For all the info look on www.Focushacks.com.
