you could have a leak with any of the 8 injectors, the branch tube, the stc fitting. you need to take it to a dealer because the tech can deadhead the system to actually pinpoint the system. like i said it could be either system. but with a major leak in the hp system it will make the base system seem like its not working due to the demand for oil from the hpop.
that makes the most sense yet.. not thrilled with a dealer though...please don't take offense but the dealers that I've been to will all tell you that they have diesel tech's, but have yet to find a good one..know of a good one in the Grand Rapids , Mi. area???... I don't mind spending the money but I don't need to spend money for someone to learn either...
I don't have a problem with pulling the motor, I have already done this to install head gaskets and install studs. I just don't want to pull the engine only to find out that all it needed was an new injecter. know what I mean...
well if you feel like fixing it your self heres what i would do. remove the valve covers and watch at the top of all the injectors, and both ends of the braided hose connected to the log with it running. just hook the ficm back up and start it. dont worrry about splash because there is none. look very carefully and if you see oil coming from anywhere, you need to start there because the 6.0 injectors dont spit like the 7.3s.
braded hose??? this one has the tubes that fit under oil logs... must be the newer style I'm presuming? You can tell a bad injector or leaking inj that way?
