I've gone back through the archives and can't find this, but I'm sure it's been covered.My '53's bed is in bad shape and i bought a '68 F-100 stepside for the bed.What changes need to be made so it will fit.I notice in some of the parts catalog that the pieces of metal under the bed are different,but can the ones i have be redrilled to fit ? Are the fender holes the same height or will will new holes need drilled and the old ones filled ?

I have the same issue on my '56 F100 project as you have found. The fender holes on the later model bed are about 1 3/4" higher than the early model. I don't know about the lower parts that you mentioned.
I'm debating whether to redrill the holes (my bed sides are very nice) or just start with a new bed.
As an update, I just finished welding in the new TCI front suspension.
