Expedition Block Heater

I am going to be moving to Alaska in a few months and I want to install a block heater on my 05 Expy before I leave. I was looking for a Ford block heater, but can't find one listed anywhere. Does Ford have a block heater accessory, or will I have to go after market? If Ford has one, can anyone help me find the part number? If Ford does not, does anyone have any recommendations for an after market part?

Thanks much!

ford did make them as an accessory kit. problem is they also obsoleted the kit. part number is 3L1Z*6D008*BA. there are two left in the country, both at dealers in montana. here's the kicker. you can order the wire(4L1Z*6B018*AA) and the heater(3L3Z*6A051*AA) separately. there are plenty of them all over the country, so any dealer(including myself) can get them for you. just won't come with instructions....but you are better off having a dealer install them anyways. good luck, and pm me if you want the telephone numbers to those two dealers in montana.

I never heard of a battery heater, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I remember having to drag my battery inside for a few hours just to get some better cranking amps when it was 25 below zero.

I noticed that this says it fits an '03 Expy. Will it work for an '05?

I don't know, as the 05 had the 3 valve engine (right?) If so you might want to call your local dealer and have them check.
