Question about my temp. guage.

Hi all,im new and i had a question about my ford. Its a 76 2wd reg cab short box f100 ranger xlt.It ha a/c,power steering,automatic and a 360. the temp. guage has never worked, and i tested the guage,and it works but im having trouble locating the sending unit. i think someone removed it for some odd reason. i went to the autozone website to try and locate it, but it said there was no such component found.the engine is a 360 and any clues about how the system works would be greatly appreciated.

The temp SU will be near the T-stat housing.
It will have either a "T style stud" on top of it or a threaded bolt type stud on it for trhe connector.

Mines on the intake manifold right near the thermostat housing and is that threaded stud connector. Might be different on a 76 though.

Thats where i thought it would be,and yes for some odd reason someone took it out and put a plug in it. Thanks again.

part#TU25 from autozone $5 use sealer too, I've bought many for my many fords. The end where the wire connects looks like screw without a head. Put 20ohm resistor from guage wire to ground, guage should be in hot or maxed out.
