OD off light flashing

OD off light flashing

I have a 99 F250 4wd powerstroke automatic(no mods)and lately the OD off light is flashing. It doesnt do it all the time and it seems to do it more when the weather is colder.The trans was replaced a few months ago before I bought the truck with a ford 3yr/36000 mile replacement and it seems to shift and work fine despite the flashing light.I know this means I have a malfunction but I wondered if there is anything I should check before I take it to the shop?

if the trans was replaced then you might have something as simple as a rear speed sensor that is acting up .id definitly get it scanned and let us know what you find.

Is it acting like not shifting from 1st gear?

I had the same thing on my '99 250 SD.......the sensor on the top side of the rearend...name ? forgotten....mine was bad but yours may just need to be checked for a good conection since the recent underbody work.

Thanks for the help, soon as the weather gets a little better I'll check it out.As far as shifting out of 1st it seems to shift just fine I have a feeling it is something simple like a faulty sensor or bad connection.Thanks
