I have an 06 f350 6.0 cc 4x4 when my truck sits for two or three days the truck will start and the oil pressure goes up there is a urrrrrup sound that happens. It seems to be in the lower passenger side of the motor.I repeated the sound with the heater on and off.Any ideas? It almost sounds as if something sags down when the trucks not running for two days and after its started its winding back up and setting itself back in place.
you sure its not the vacuum pump? maybe its growling at you for not driving it enough!!lol
Where would the vacuum pump be located? It just started doing this about a month ago. Part of the problem is I drive this thing almost every day and it just doesn't sit that much for me to check it all the time.Would the vacuum pump make the sound from the passenger side low in the engine? And to answer the last statement, I hope it's not mad at me because the truck knows I love it I tell it so every time I get in it!
It sounds like the vacuum pump to me. my 03 and 06 made the same sound. It does seem to be more noticable when they sit for a while. And yes they are mad at you for not driving them every day (in thier view it is like you are cheating on them) So quit your cheating and

I guess I offended it by thinking it needed a breather, it's ten months old with 34,000 miles on it.I think after reading your guys posts that it is the vacuum pump. It's not the heater shutting because it's not thumping,so what you guys are saying it's nothing to worry about?
ya it normal. just worry when you dont hear the noise!! just pop the hood and get someone to crank it. the vacuum pump is bolted to the right side fender apron.
I might be wrong but the vacuum pump should activate with the key on not just whith the engine running!!!!!!!! So pop your hood and turn the key on and I think she will purrr right along. A tech will hopefully correct me if I'm wrong on this but I believe I have heard mine with the key on......
