Does the blower motor have a relay? Typically, Ford has routed the wiring through a resistor assembly which is mounted on the plenum under the dash. There are different windings in that resistor assembly for each of the fan speeds. If your blower isn't working, check the fuse. If it only works on high speed, you probably need to replace the resistor assembly.
it does have a relay, its some weird self grounding relay under the dash (more twords passenger side i believe), i dont know anything about electrical, but what i do know is that you cant buy this relay at the autoparts store.
cause mine is bad. i had to bypass it with a switch.
I assume this for the 79 ?
I also assume you have AC then ?
It makes a difference.
The Non-AC heater power runs through the resistor mounted on/in the plenum under the dash. http://www.clubfte.com/users/mil1ion/ACschematic2.JPG
Yeah don't see a relay there. :/
My '75 with A/C has a relay and I've replaced it at least 4 times (new and used relays) after the second time I moved it so it'd be easier to get to. ;)
Also mounted it on a machine screw coming through the firewall that's nutted down forming a "fixed stud" for me to work with instead of the sheet metal screw.
Anyway I bought a heavier-duty replay that said something about being for "Ford power windows" I believe, as opposed to the regular accessory relay.
I've had it long enough I can tell it's better than any of the others.
Just be sure your plug fits the new relay and the internal wiring is right for you. More trouble that it'd be worth not to be able to use your plug and have to wire it in, IMO.
