I just found out my 2003 6.0 has a engine block heater. Found the plug and will plug it in tonight. Was 21 degees this morning and started but idled a little ruff for the first minute or so.
In regards to the block heater, I've seen conflicting reports as to when it should be plugged in. Some guys plug it in an hour or two before tey need to start the truck (doesn't work for me - I leave at 530 AM - I ain't gettin up at 330 to plug the beast in!) - I leave it plugged in all night. Is that "bad" in the long run???
No it is not a bad thing, it just wastes electricity. You can buy a timer that is rated for at least 1500W of load and then you can set it to come on 2-3 hours before you need to start the truck.
How warm does this get the engine? Anyone know where the block heater is located? I don't really need it here in So Cal, but I hate sitting on a cold leather seat at 0530 wearing shorts LOL. Just trying to be nicer to the neighbors by not hitting the remote start before I actually leave for work.
Hey- that's a good start- better than 40 degrees!! Now if I can just convince the wife to move her car so I can fit the dually in the driveway to plug it in.....I think I'm stuck with cold seats hehe

Check out my Tech file, in my gallery, on adding the cord for pic's of where it is . . .
I actually found my block heater on my truck a few months after I bought it. I was suprised I had one...especially since its a V10. I do like how quickly the engine warms up in the winter.
