Wow I was hoping for about 15 to 18 MPG But maybe that is a far streatch.
I was thinking of putting a 4 speed with over drive in it to see if that might help.
Ohh I think I read somewhere too if you changer rear ratio you have to front ratio too? Is this right?
And Thanks for the replys
ZZ
oh yes you definatly have to chage both. if you dont the tires will run at different speeds.
with 3.55 gears the driveshaft spins 3.55 times to a tires 1 time
with 4.10 gears the driveshaft spins 4.10 times to a tires 1 time
so you can see if you have different gears in front and back they will be different
I have a '93 F-150 with a rebuilt 302 headers, true dual 3 inch exhaust 3.55 and get 10.5 to 11.0 per gallon with the 31's on it and 9.6 to 10.0 with the 35 inch tires. Mileage is the same pulling a trailer, highway or town........so if ya'll want better mileage buy a yugo
You might try adding a couple extra pounds of air to each tire ? Next try advance the timing from 10 BTDC to 12 or 14 degrees. If the engine pings under load back the timing back down.
These two items wont cost you nothing and you may get another mile or two a gallon.
Hope this helps.
