Doesn't anyone else have a OD other than Gear Vendor. These units have doubled in price in just two years. All it is, is a planetary 30% pump oiled box. Nice product but over ppriced because they are the only gane in town.
Remember the "Columbia Overdrive" in the 50's Ford-o-lac cop cars. What happened to the 2-speed axle that was built in 68, on a 9" Hotchkiss case, sold in Cougers of all things? The HYPOID is lots more efficient, and a stronger place for the gear change. It won't help the 4x4 group, but they should be looking at the transfer case to change ratios. I was born at night- but not last night. Come on after market vendors. This will not come from "off shore". Some yankee will feel the need to create these things with American Ingenuity and U.S. Steel

Do you think it is a matter of load, lubrication, or quality of materials in the bearing. I have had to make some changes in boiler feed pump bearings to make the pumps last. It wouldn't be the first time that an engineering spec was adjusted by the accounting dept.
