I was looking under the dash on the drivers side today and noticed a small metal toggle switch mount under the dash on the metal framework.
It is just labled ON/OFF. Anyone know what this is for?
The only thing I can think of is that there is a label in the engine compartment regarding a remote starter, but I have never figured out how to use it. I don't have a button on my key FOB for it.
Probably has/had an aftermarket alarm/remote start system installed by the previous owners. The on/off is for the remote start. Chances are that the brain was removed...
I took a quick look and it looks like the wire run up in to the steering column. I am going to dig in to tracing it this weekend. If I follow the wires, I should be able to tell if they are still running to anything.
It is a remote starter cut off switch. This discovered by press lock, unlock, lock on the key fob. The dash lights up and it starts to crank. When the switch is off, this doesn't work.
No for the new problem. It will start to crank, but never starts. Any ideas guys? Would be nice to have it fire up a minutes before I walk out.

Most remote start systems require a PATS key to be hidden somewhere in the dash to deactivate the security system. Put a working key near (but not in) the ignition and try the remote starter. If it works, get a spare key and hide it in the dash.
Tried the above, but no luck. It is definatley an problem with the anti theft. I am going to do some digging under the dash this weekend and try to get a name or model number of the starter.
Well folks, we are on to something. I got up under the dash yesterday and found an Audiovox AS-TCBM GenRemote Start By-Pass Module. Now the problem is I can't find any information on it. I may just run the Navi over to Car Toys and chat with them for a while. Has anyone ever used one of these?
Can you describe what it looks like? Some of these bypass units look like black boxes that you can insert a key into. I know that DEI makes one that opens up and the second PATS key just clips in...
Got it working. I took the box apart. Inside is a piece of foam with glass tube on it. There are some electronics on the tube.
Stuck the key where the tube was and it worked great.
So, I need to get a spare key made (remember I only have one). My guess is I can use the programming instructions that are in the manual to program the little glass tube. If not I just tape the spare key in the box and I am up and running.
