I just bought a nice stereo from Crutchfield, so I could play mp3 disc's. Cost $125 and sounds fantastic. Now I dont have to listen to the sorry stations we have in Atlanta. My stereo said nothing about manual tune in the description, but what I found out after I read the manual and played with it, is you change change the seek/tune function from auto to manual. So if I want to tune a weak station and auto passes by, I hit a button and can tune it in. I am sure most stereos have this function, but dont list it, not really a bells and whistles kind of thing. BTW, I bought a Kenwood stereo. I love being able to pop in a disc and being able to listen to it all week and not hearing the same song twice.

dude your looking to spend the same amount as what it would cost to fill a 14 gallon tank, which will last about a week. if your vehicle resembles your name i wouldnt worry about your stuff being stolen, and if it is, your honestly going to tell me you would be more upset having a 60 dollar radio stolen than the great 32$ stereo you found in jc whitney. there was about 30 some odd posts before this with great information that obviously was not pertinant to you. i hope your ol lady if you have one doesnt expect much more than a dvd and a #5 off the value menu for a fun filled friday night. 11 years ago i graduated and for two years before that when car stereo systems were starting to get hot, you couldnt get a good stereo for under 200$ now and thank the lord sony jvc pioneer have contracts with wally world for a good stereo for about 60 bucks, but your oblivious to this.

Is it that radio???

that POS has 15 watts PEAK per channel, 5 RMS... Casset player, 6 month warentee only, 2 channels only...

dont even THINK about powering 4 speakers with it, you will ruin it.

Spend the extra $15 and get one of the ones I suggested... or go to a damn junkyard and buy a used one... do NOT buy that radio

The 20 year old "premium" sound system in my SVO sounds better than one of those crappy Wal-Mart $50 radios.

A stock head unit can sound much, much better through a set of decent speakers. I'd spend my money there first before buying a new head unit.

Personally, I say good riddance to old dial tune stereos. Very, very few of them had fine enough tuning to allow you to really lock into a station while you were driving down the road.

I know that they make noise that half way resembles music and for a fraction of the cost of a digital tune. Is you home stereo a digital tune? How about your boom box. Not the same but close enough.

Nathane, For starters I only got one speaker anyway.
I did some more searching on JC Whitney and found on for $19.99

Like someone else mentioned, I don't smoke or drink and this is how I prefer to spend my money. Who are you to judge me and say that my "rusted out car" is a waste of money? Oh, and by the way, I spent $200.00 on an HD satellite radio ready stereo and love it. When I drive my car I am happy, I just hope you can get that with your crappy $32.00 radio.
please leave a brief detailed description of where you park your vehicle, does it have a alarm? people who brag about their expensive stereos, and put huge kenwood stickers on their windows are just asking to get ripped off. and no matter how hard you try driving through my neighborhood blasting whatever the latest garbage jungle music is dosnt make you cool.

im with old rust bucket one this one, i'd rather hear my glasspacks then most of the garbage on the radio now days. my 96 came with a aftermarket pioneer cd head unit that sounds fine with the speakers that are in there. since my taste in music ranges from classic rock to mid 90s grunge i dont need anything more then what ive got.

if i got the extra money to throw around i'll put it into one of my motors, something worth it.

my 86 dosnt even have a radio just a hole in the dash, but longtube headers and packs sing a song sweeter then any stereo ever could. With one tip out each side i'll gladly blast it straight into your window, let ya hear some real bass.

Ummm yeah, everybody knows that putting stickers on your car is asking to get ur stuff stolen... And, blairing music in town with your windows down is retarded... Roll ur windows UP, and deadon the doors.

It's just that radio you're picking out (the $19.99 one) is GOING to be a cheap peice of crap. it will burn out, it will not sound good, and it will just be absolutly not worth your money... GET ONE FROM A JUNKYARD!!!!!!!!! A FACTORY headunit WILL have more power then the one's you're deadset on... Get one from as new of ford as possible, and get the wiring harness... Then, just get a wiring diagram. I think OEM radios go for $10 around me in junkyards, aftermarket ones are like $20 if they work...

Good luck, PLEASE dont buy that headunit.

BINGO!! We have a winner!

If you dont have a CD player in your vehicle these days, you will be laughed at (I was). I have a Sony CDX-F5700 in my truck. Bought it 2-3 years ago when it was the best you could get for $250. Plays MP3's too. I like to listen to my music, and hear every instrument that plays.

I can tune any frequency of my music to the way I want it, tons of different pre-set freq's, Hell...I've had this thing for 2-3 years and I still havent touched half the features. HPF, LPF, DSO, EQ7....

And such is the problem. Every one is worried that they will be "laughed at" if they don't keep up with the Jone's

Nathane, I think that's what I'm going to do. I need to go junkyard shopping for some other things anyway. I'd need a new panel over the radio. The one it's got was massacred by the person who thought they absolutely needed a CD. I thinks it's best to go to a junkyard and just buy the radio, panel and everything. Just make sure the junk man checks it to be sure it works. As far as CD decks are concerned I don't even own a music CD so what good would it do me to have a CD player? Come to think of it I don't have any cassette tapes either. Used to but they were out, Of course CDs scratch so they are not any better. CDs are a dying trend now to. Everyone is switching over to jump drives and direct downloading music into their I-pods. When they did away with VHS tapes that was when I decided I no longer cared. I figured it was pointless to sell all my media and buy another type everytime the next bandwagon rolled down the pike. In another 5 years DVDs will be replaced by something else.

As a young kid huh? You mean like last week? You're not even old enough to buy beer, but you feel you have the authority to lecture parents on how to raise their children? The DVD players are for the parents genius, not the kids. Kids don't die of boredom, they die by asking "are we there yet?" too many times.
I do agree, however, that tv causes illiteracy. I mean, just look at your spelling of the word "traveled". You must have watched a lot of G.I. Joe "as a young kid"...

Well, if your idea of "street trash" is a young married couple with meaningful careers who actually make a contribution to society, rather than gripe about how miserable they are, then you're right. If you consider an '06 Toyota Sienna a "pimped Hummer" (and you just may considering your previous posts), then yes, my wife drives a pimped Hummer. If, by "luxury car", you mean a '98 F150, you've got me pegged. BTW, my son watches dvds in my wife's minivan on roadtrips. His teacher says he has the verbal and math skills of a 3rd grader. He's 4...and yes, I would like fries with that...
