Is the exhaust control valve for a '73 F100 w/ a 360 necessary? I just rebuilt the engine and I'm getting ready to put it back in and the exhaust valve seemed a little hard to move. I was thinkin' that I would just take the butterfly off the shaft and not worry about it. But I'm not sure what effect it will have. Has any body tried this? And why is it only on the driver side of the engine?
No there not really nessesary!! As alot of us in here run Headers anyway! From what I was told years ago "about 35? when I owned a 54 Chev..That all that spring loaded butterfly did was restrict some exhaust to help warm the engine quicker!
I really dont know what its Tech name is or if someone just BS'ed me aboutwhat its supposed to do?
But I'am a firm believer in the less parts the better!! Crap can it and buy a cheap set of Heddmen headers!! JMO...
