Does the in dash temperature control unit have a light in it? If it does, mine is burned out and is impossible to read at night. I have most everything pulled out of the dash waiting for a new blend/diverter door to come in and was just wondering if I need to pull out the temp control unit and replace a bulb before I put everything back together.
Yes, there is a bulb back in there, it should be lit up. I haven't had to do one, so can't give any tips, but I don't think it would be too bad, try reaching behind the dash to check things out before you tear it all apart. I would guess it to be the little #194 peanut bulbs like the marker lamps.
Thanks folks. It's parked outside and it's cold and raining now, will check it more closely for a bulb before I put the blend door back in and button everything back up.
Why would you need to take the dash pad or the cluster out? Take the two screws at the top of the bezel out that covers the radio and the climate controls, and then 4 screws on the climate controls, and you should have clear access to the back of the controls. (I just took a look at my 86)
