I have a 05 screw 21000 miles and about ready for tires already. No abnormal uneven wear, just tread is very low. When I get new tires what kind of balancing should I make sure they do? TIA
Road force balancing is the best but is also the most expensive. I'd probably go with the usual 'spin' or dynamic balance first and only go the force balance route if there were problems. If you check the back of the car magazines you will see that outfits like The Tire rack road force balance all their tires. The bigger the rim size the more critical it is.
21,000 miles ? I just changed my original set. I had 59,000+ on them when I purchased my new set. I probably could have gone farther if I would have kept up better with the balances and rotations.
I've got almost 40K on my original Michelins with atleast another 10K to go on them. That's what I'll put back on too. You need to figure out why those tires went bad at 21K. Rotating them is real important. Do it atleast every other oil change. I do my own rotating, only takes about half an hour with an impact wrench (to remove only) and 4 jack stands.
Did you criss-cross them(left front to right rear, right front to left rear)? I don't think they do that anymore, that is what I have heard can cause chunking.
I bought a 2005. About 6 months later they sent me a 50k warranty sticker to put over the warranty page in my owners manual that originally stated 30k. Did anyone else get their tire warranty extended? I wonder if I have to get them rotated at their service shop if I ever did have a problem?

Thanks for replies all. yes had them criss-crossed rotated every 5000 miles by dealer. Thet are the Continentals. Think the warranty covers them?

My owners manual says to move the back ones straight forward, and criss-cross the front to the back. I thought they quit doing that too. But I want to make sure I do everything by the book.
Cheap tires cause all sorts of problems. They are not worth the effort you put into them. Throw the warranty away and go buy yourself a good set of tires. You paid thousands of dollars for your truck, what is a few hundred for tires and peace of mind?

Very true. I was thinking more of a credit towards better set.
