Turbo Info

I've owned my '97 F250 Crewcab 4X4 HD for only about 3 months and am still in the process of learning about the 7.3 in addition to the aftermarket mods the previous owners have installed. First off, it came with the Edge Evolution which I currently have in the middle setting which supposedly adds 80 horse. It also has the larger downpipe, AFE intake, 4" straight exhaust. I am also speculating that it has the exhaust brake mod. My question is in regards to the turbo that is on this truck. It is stamped Garrett TP-38 1.10 A/R. I am curious as to whether this is stock or not and if not whether it is a benefit or not. I just ordered boost, pyro, and trans temp gauges and will be asking for input on what mods should be next. Thanks.

thats the stocker one, its a good turbo. What makes you think it has the DIY exhuast brake? Is there a toggle switch that activates it? If there is, to check flip the switch while driving and if it sounds like a jet engine thats the EBPV shutting which would be the brake.
If its a manual do a solid flywheel upgrade. Might not be a go fast mod but its a mod to keep you moving. If its an auto get an external remote fluid filter, and maybe an ATF cooler...another 'save your ****' mod.

Maybe I'm wrong about the exhaust brake because there is no toggle switch. There is a cover on the front of the dash which looks like it is covering a place where a switch once was, but I'm not real familiar with how this thing should act. I have just noticed that when I let off the accelerator and coast it will hit an rpm and the truck really whoa's up in a hurry. Depending on what my egt's look like, I'm considering an intercooler or the DIY stage 1's. I really dig learning about the 7.3 and am impressed by the hp and torque numbers a guy can get to with mods.
