Well, I had two different tranny shops look at my truck and both came up with same outcome: 3rd gear out, 4th going out and reverse almost out. NEEDS NEW TRANNY! Damnit! Dropped it off, picked it up the next day with a new tranny. They said when they tried pulling it in their shop, truck wouldn't go into reverse for them. Guess I'm lucky I got it in when I did. Good luch guys, hopefully you don't have the same outcome my truck did.
Sorry for your problem there. That is a bad deal. I can't believe the trans would puke out that quick. Do you or had you towed a lot? Had the tranny fluid been changed out every 20-30K??? Knock on plastic...mine is still good, haven't had CPS problem yet(have one in glove box though!) I just can't believe some of the problems I read about on here. (HPOP is only big thing I have had problem ..replaced.) How frequent they occur. I know there are a LARGE number of PSD on the road, but I hope many of the things bypass me for a while...or until my kids get out of college. Just a drag this time of year to have to pay or work on things with so much other stuff going on and the weather.
Well, I have 129K miles on the truck, so I guess it's somewhat understandable. I bought it used, and it had a fifth wheel hitch in the bed, so I'm sure it pulled some type of animal trailer as I bought it from a dealership in the country. I also pull my 20' enclosed trailer during mowing season, so it has seen some towing in it's day. I replaced the CPS, no big deal there. Hopefully, with replacing the tranny, not many other big things can/will/should go out. This is the best truck I've owned, just bad luck with the tranny on this one, but like I said, high miles.
