disconnecting computer and vacuum hoses
I decided to put the stock exhaust/intake manifold and 1 brl carb back on the engine. I installed all emissions components I got from the junk yard, did not install an o2 sensor or catalytic converter. All the vacuum lines are connected where they are supposed to be. The carb is a carter yfa-1v feedback carb. I connected all the computer harness plugs to the proper components and connected the computer power and ground.
It idles rough and is blowing black smoke from the exhaust, I think this means that it is running rich. I tried disconnecting the computer and it made no difference in idle and black smoke.
Now finally, my question. Keeping this feedback carb, can I remove all vacuum hoses except charcoal canister hose to carb and brake booster hose and be able to remedy my running rich situation? Or does the feedback part of the carb need the computer for the carb to function properly?
The vacuum hoses will need to be reconnected for emissions(visual only here in pa) Would I be able to install a non feedback carb and still pass the visual emissions inspection?
Sorry for the long post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
