My problem is that the engine idle speed in park is about 1300 rpm. When I drop it down in drive it jerks real hard. I don't know if this is due to the idle speed or transmission problems. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok on the side of the throttle body is a small metallic cylinder. With the engine idling at 1300, unplug it. Does the idle drop down? It may get low, may even die. If it does, remove that metallic cylinder and clean it out with throttle body cleaner or replace it, your choice.
If it doesn't, look for vacuum leaks, especially broken vacuum lines. Spray throttle body cleaner around the seals and vacuum ports and see if you get any bubbles or the idle smooths out.
Ther engine did die when I unplugged it. I am off to get some throttle body cleaner. What is this silver cylinder called? I may just replace it. That way I want look like an idiot at the auto parts store.
