lift to fit 35's on 18-20inch rims
I want stock or better ride quality, looking at Donahoe 4.5 inch but there are no dealers in Atlanta (install)
I would prefer a hanger system to maintain ride quality, my brother has 5 inch superlift with springs on his Ex and ride is horible.
FYI, I had a 4" Procomp system on my 04 EB w/ 35" BFG All Terrains and had to go to a 6" system (Fabtech) to get enough clearance. At that time I also added a dual shock system and have been very pleased with the results.
I have a 00 X with a 6 in pro comp with the double shock set up. IT BLOWS!!!! Stiffest ride around. It isn't terrible on the road, but around town it is really stiff. From what I have heard the DR is the lift to go with. I have a hanger kit on my F350 and love it, but couldn't run 325's with a hanger on the X. (the procomp came on the rig when I bought it.) I'm thinking of switching to the DR...I'm just having trouble swallowing the $$.
I went with the 7" DR Edge and 37" PJ Dirt Grip tires.
The Donahoe system gives a very nice ride. It's the only system I know of that is designed from the ground up specifically for the X. The other lift systems take the F-series pickup lift kit and modify it for the X. The spring rates on the other systems are not matched very well with the X which give it a rough ride. Donahoe uses Deaver springs that are designed for the weight distribution of the X.
I didn't think the 35" tires filled the wheel well out enough. That's why I went with the 37's. They look great. Had to do some minor trimming of the lower valance but that was no big deal.
I have Fab-tech 5 1/2" on her 02 Ex, w Bilsteins, Love it, but I have heard DR is the way to go, Install really isn't that hard, IF you have the place to do it. Took about 8hrs on the Ex, done a couple others, about the same time frame.
Redeye, yes you can drop to one shock, I would try that, also might wanna look how many leaves are in the spring pack, and how thick are they, that makes a BIG diiference, my Fab-Techs have 11 leaves, thin ones, did a lift with BDS springs,,,holy *****, STIFF there were 5 leaves about 3/8" to 1/2" thick rode like crap...
Deaver springs ARE the way to go, my copper, go with the DR.
