I have a 2005 f-150. Nothing fancy. It's just a regular cab xl longbed. I have been noticing alot of shakin' going on at 50 mph and 70 mpg. No other time would this happen. I finally took her in to the dealer. They just phoned me and said it was to drive shaft. I don't know what about the drive shaft was faulty but, they're ordering one and I should get my truck back tomorrow.
Has anyone else had this happen? I have 29,000 miles on the truck. I guess I started slightly noticing it around 25,000. I have just put new tires on and it started with the original tires on.
There's been some talk on the vib issues with the 150s in here... It may help you by looking in the Recalls/TSBs on your MY truck. You can find these by looking in the Blue header bar across the top of your screen and finding the "Recalls/TSBs" link-then select your model/year.
The next thing you can possibly do is go back a few pages in this forum...
The dealer seems like they've encountered this already, I wouldn't worry...
I have a 2007 FX2 at 200 miles the entire differential was replaced due to backlash out of spec. At 600 miles the drive shaft was replaced in an attempt to get some of the vibration out of it. At 2500 the Pirrili tires were taken off because of flat spotting and vibration. Tommorow they are going to try shimming the drive line angle (more vibration) 2800 miles.
OK! They have installed a new drive shaft and a little vibration is still there. They tell me that a "drive shaft dampener" will do the trick. Does this sound right?
had this on an 03 Lariat, and they kept the vehicle for a month, changed the driveshaft and a whole lot of other diagnosis and never found the vibration. I settled on keeping the vibration and a 5yr. extended service plan free...totalled the truck and never collected on the service plan. Good luck...insurance company bought me an 06.
Well hell.....The local dealer had the truck for 10 days. Vibration still there! They changed the drive shaft and drive shaft dampener. Ran some diag's. Wrote in their report that "flat spots" were found on all 4 tires. ALL FOUR TIRES! I told them that the truck was shakin' with the original tires on there. I guess those four had flat spots too? I'm gonna try the dealer I bought the truck from. They are about 45 minutes away, but maybe they can fix this problem.
Tell them to look at the parking brake tsb. It applies to all 05's. The parking brake adjusters rust and seize, the shoes drag, and then you get the vibration. They threw a driveshaft at mine also, but it didn't help. I would bet a few bucks thats whats wrong.
