Unhappy OBD2 Location

I have a 1997 F350 Crew. I'm trying to locate the OBD2 port. According to the database at obdclearinghouse.com it should be to the lower right of the steering wheel. I looked all under the dash with no luck. Does anyone have a clue where the thing is?

Like they said it is at the bottom of the dash underneath possibly. But its there.
I don't know if they had the brake controller plug for that year but it would be a square plug and you are looking for a rectangular plug. Any OBD2 vehicles had them in the same general area. And its black. But feel around for something sticking out.

I just looked in my ae book and it says 96 f series is under a cover just right of the stereo. 95-98 powerstrokes, don't know what kind of engine you have, are under the passenger dash. My 03 7.3 is under drivers side dash. Your owners manual will say exactly where it is.

There are three possible locations, under the dash on the driverside, passenger side, or under the hood near the brake booster. If it is under the hood, then it would be OBD 1. When you look under the dash, follow the plastic dash panel to the bottom, around your shin area. Generally it is in the area of the tranny hump (center of the dash panel).

Sorry, but your truck does not have OBD 2. Trucks with GVW 8600lbs or over did not get OBD 2 until the 99 model year. You can still gain access to the PCM from the
ECC IV connector under the hood, if you have the right scan tool. Although if you have a diesel it may have OBD 2, and the connector will be on the right side of the dash near the trans hump. I do not work on many diesels so I'am
not sure when they first got OBD 2.

HD1340, thanks, I think you nailed it. I looked in all the suggested spots (Thanks folks!) without luck. It is gas which I should have mentioned earlier. I should have checked for the connnector before buying the OBD2 scanner from obdallinone.com Now I have to figure out if I can use this to connect to the PCM or if I can get a PCM scanner.

Thanks to all. I haven't been able to find any affordable (<$125) readers for the eec-iv OBD1 code. But it seems that one can ground the STI on the connector and then count the number of flashes and pause times. Then decode the counts using ford charts. So, when the rain and snow take a break I'll might actually go out there and try that! brrrrr!
