I posted this in the f150 section too, but thought that you guys with SD's that plow you might know alittle more...
<hr style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);" size="1"> Does any body know where to get strobe lights in the front turn signals, and in the rear backup lights from?
My uncle is looking for them for his 06 f350 and I am also considering them also as we a both in construction together, and he also plows. We both perfer them over the yellow lights on top of the cab.
I did a google sreach to find nothing.

like thedaddycat said you can get some at parts stores. you drill about a 1/4" hole in the back of the light and put the strobe in and it has a rubber grommet that goes around it. The ones at the parts stores are usually made by street glow or similar. I think they are more geared toward the ricer crowd so I don't know if the quality is the greatest...

Hey, as you know, i installed them in the new truck yesterday. The guy who we bought the plow and strobes from came down to our shop to install it, because we have a heated shop, and it's cold out. He said the ones that are on the truck are not Whelen, but the ones that i will be installing on the 06 F-250's are Whelens. Let me take a few pics here. Don't have a good video camera, so it's impossible to get both strobes to be on in the pic, they flash so fast! It is defanitley bright. In the reflector turn signals, im sure you could see them clearly over a half-mile away. Surprisingly, turning the headlights ON with the strobes ON (turn signals) will make the strobes fade out, only in the light beam of the headlights. They still flash bright to the sides where the headlights don't dominate.

I dug around and found that the kit is from Strobes N More, www.strobesnmore.com We have "Professional Series System 4" with the extra switch, $159 for the stuff and $26.99 for the switch. Pulling the headlights, drilling, and getting all of the damn shavings out is the hardest part. There are few left in there still. Look at the last 4 pics of the album.

I also took a few short clips here, but im not sure how to get them to work, so im going to screw around here and see if i cant get them to work.
EDIT- Here are the clips. Suprisingly easy (!) to upload to Putfile. Here are 4 clips, there are 15 positions, here are a few of them.

Thanks strokin for the pics and every body else, STROKIN Do you have the 60 or 90 watt and where did you mount your power supply, and how did you run the wires through the cab? I also like your switch better then the ones on ebay theres has three switchs for 4 lights...???
Also I found this on ebay, what is the difference between the 60 and 90 watt?
And also one of the strobe lights kits has 4 and 6 lights per kit, so for 6 lights the truck must get 2 per light right, and if so which ones front or back? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-Strobe-Light-Super-Brite-Kit-CAR-TRU

It is the 60watt version. The power supply box is just wedged up above the parking brake assembly. With all of the extra wire in several coils, i just zip-tied them firmly into place, and the box is not going anywhere, and it's out of the way. I knew i should have taken a pic of the access port on the firewall. It's close to where i mounted the box, its on the firewall. Pull out a precut piece of sticky insulation, and then push the other end out. I drilled a hole through the center, and then split from that hole to the edge with a knife. It makes a nice grommet-style job, and it's snug. I tapped into a power source for both the plow light switch and the strobes. Common ground too. On this version, there are 6 possible heads, and i only used 4. You could use two more somewhere where you could think of. In this case, the first switch is 1-2, and the second one is 3-6. The button is to change patterns. The rear ones are wired 1-2, and the fronts are 3-4. I can still add two more if i so desire. I bet the 90W are brighter, but probably don't last as long. To tell you the truth, these things are almost as bright as a welding flash on the wall, if you aren't looking at them. I tried to stare at the strobe from about 3' away, and 5-6 minutes later i still had the purple indentation in my retina. Tomorrow i will get pics of the wires at the cab inlet.

After reading a few postings here and one in particular how the member was hit from behind on a rainy dark road, I have decided I am going to install strobes too. I have the Stuttertone airhorn coming next week and I will order a strobe kit as well. I have high visibility reflectors in the rear, but I think the strobes will make it much more visible even in bad weather.

Keep in mind that installing strobe tubes is potentially illegal. For instance, in Texas, and red, white, or blue lighting is restricted to authorized emergency vehicles and certain other types of vehicles.
Some places will harass you, some places won't. But, know your state law. Personally, a couple of LED lightheads (in amber) mounted under the tailgate and in the rear window are significantly more effective, cheaper, easier to install, and can be run with the engine off (a 6/90 strobe supply will draw about 13A... 4 LEDs will draw a time-averaged 2 amps at best).
I generally don't install strobes anymore, especially hide-away systems. They're a pain, expensive, and not all that effective.
Disclaimer: I do installs professionally in various emergency apparatus as well as volunteer-owned vehicles.
