Exclamation Need help with injectors

howdy, I have been watching this sight for the past 2 and a half years learning more and more about my truck. There is a lot of information to be learned here. I went to ford today and found out the piston 7 is misfiring. This leads to the fact that i more than likely need new injectors. My truck is an early 99 F-250, 4x4 with an automatic. It has about 215,000 miles on it and i have done a few modifications. A-pillar gages monitoring boost, trans temp, and pyro. I also have now muffler, 6637 air filter, and a hypertech program. No that we are through all of that i need to know what i should do about injectors. In my mind i would like to replace all of the injectors with a higher preformance set to get a little more horse power and of course more smoke. I dont' know if i should do that or stick with OEM injectors and replace just 4 on one side or all or other sugestions welcomed. I need to know where is the best place to get new injectors for the price and quality. Thanks in advance

Welcome to FTE, Stroker Dean. Congrats on finally posting. Replacing the injectors with aftermarket ones is a good idea. However i would be cautious about that, as you have an early 99 truck, which has a smaller HPOP, im sure you read all about it and know what i mean, if you have been reading a while. I would look at a set of BeansDieselPerformance stage one injectors. He may accept your bad injector as a good core, you may never know. If you are spending the money for new injectors anyway, go ahead and upgrade some. You will also want to get custom tuning for those new injectors. Sell the Hypertech and contact Jody from DP-Tuner.com. Good luck, see ya around.

There is a place that sells OEM injectors for $119 a piece, which sure beats anywhere else. I know a few guys here have the site on hand, however i don't. They should chime in here tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll keep looking.

If you are talking about real diesel there have been some bad results lately.

I have an early 99 and have bought NEW Alliant Power injectors for $200 from Gomer's Diesel. Make sure you get a NEW one and not a reman.

Click on amiller93's link to common mods and maint and there will be a couple of posts detailing the procedure.

I think this is the place. The bottom of the screen on the link says it is a division of Gomers. Just call and ask if they have Brand New AB code early 99 injectors. They don't have a core charge unless you don't return the old one in a certain amount of time.

Can I make a suggestion and have the truck further tested? I find that the dealers want to just use a computer and tell you what is up and not double check. For instance on a balance test sometime it will give errors on my number 7 although its new. The contribution test pulls fine. HVC harness was my initial problem. Lets ask you this, does it run rough? Why did you go to dealer? I replaced my 8 injectors at over 4ook and was only running on 6 good ones. Now layin in the garage for rebuild kit later.
