I went to ford on Wed. evening because it started out sounding and running just a little different that afternoon. Something that only the operator could tell. Later on that day after a meeting it was getting worse and to the point now that it is running rough and sound really different than it should and that is why i went to ford. He hooked up the computer and came up with piston 7 is misfiring two times. He also said that the only way we can be sure is to pull it in and take off the valve cover and have a look. Being that it is Thanksgiving I haven't got this done yet hopefully tomarrow. Sorry for being long winded.
I plan to get one new injector for now to get me by because i have to go back to college monday and and later one to get all new ones. BIGER ONES.
It does run rough and it is very noticeable. I plan to take it to ford tomarrow morning and have him take a look and put an new injector in. I guess i plan now to only put one in and get newones later next summer.
Can I make a suggestion and have the truck further tested? I find that the dealers want to just use a computer and tell you what is up and not double check. For instance on a balance test sometime it will give errors on my number 7 although its new. The contribution test pulls fine. HVC harness was my initial problem. Lets ask you this, does it run rough? Why did you go to dealer? I replaced my 8 injectors at over 4ook and was only running on 6 good ones. Now layin in the garage for rebuild kit later.
I would follow this suggestion and have a second opinion. Check wiring under valve cover, connectors, etc.
I wanted to reply to this post last night, but I couldn't remember the name of the place that I got my injectors. I got to work today and found the reciept. I bought them for $135 a piece from The Injector Perfector.($100 core charge) I ordered them on a Tuesday night and they were there by Friday afternoon coming from NY. Fast friendly service. I would recommend them to anyone trying to save a little money. They were remanufactured if that matters to anyone.
Did you check engine light come on? I'm having problems with my 99 F250SD. It's running rough and the check engine light stays on. It wont clear out with a cheap check engine code reader from harbor freight. I'm just curious if this could be my problem too. Thanks
I bought an injector to replace my number 8 a while ago which was throwing a code that it was not firing....when I removed it the o-ring was totally gone...I mean not even present! anyway, I bought my replacement at dieselcare.com , and had no problems...sent back my old one for a core return and they credited my card for the return on the core in a very timely matter. good luck
My check engine light never came on. It was just obvious to me that it was not running correctly so I took it in for a check up. I was surprized the light did not come on myself.
my engine light never came on either...I had a skip when the truck first started and it would smooth out after a while. I was getting no where with diagnosis so I finally broke down and brought it to the dealer...there computer said number 8 was not firing.
