I have a 1979 F-150 I bought a few months back. The truck has no reverse lights or brake lights. The tail lights work though. The bulbs are ok as well as the wiring harness. I was looking on the side of my C6 tranny and there is no NSS. Just the shift arm and linkage. When I bought the truck the brake lights and rev. lights worked and I have not removed the switch, so it was like this when I bought it. Could I have a year model that the NSS is on the collumn? I'm pretty sure this tranny has been removed and rebuilt so chances are, the previous owner removed the switch and didn't reinstall it. Would the brake pedal switch have anything to do with this?? Thanks for any help. Also, the truck will start in gear.
The turn signals do work.
No camera to take pictures.
Contacted PO, he said he had not done anything, maybe another owner...
Does the brake light switch have anything to do with rev lights?
No cruise.
Brake lights could very well be the switch, it's adjustable. I would suspect the NSS (it should be on the column) as I believe (someone correct me if I'm mistaken) it also worked in conjuntion with the backup lights on the autos.
There is no NSS switch on the side of tranny. There is no wiring harness going to the area of the shift linkage. The brake switch is working fine, I am however having a hard time getting my circuit tester to work on the switch.
