I know I've seen here that a truck's VIN is on the frame. I believe it's the right front between the firewall and the rad support. Is that correct? Also, is it on a tag or is it stamped directly on the frame?

The VIN is stamped on the frame. It is just about under the passenger side floor board. I only found mine when the cab was off. I don't think I would have found it otherwise.

Hidden VIN numbers need to be somewhat easy to read by DMV/Law Enforcement officials. The older KBB's used to have the hidden areas listed.

Look under crank pulley on front member for stamped number...that's where they are located on 61-66 F series trucks.

Number dummy,

Things changed from the 60's

The numbers were stamped where the OP mentioned where he heard they were...... in the 70's.
Top of frame rail between Rad & Firewall.
They are also stamped "Under the cab" same place (Top of rail) .....same side.
