I have a 79 F250 4x4 with a 400 and i also have a 428 off an irrigator that runs great i want to put in the truck. I know i will need a bellhousing and i already have a flywheel, can i use motormnounts and perches out of a 76 or earlier truck that has an FE motor and does my Warner T-18 have the right imput shaft or do I also need a tranny out of an FE powred truck. thanks

being an implement engine, it may have a different pilot bushing, but I see no problems. Sound like yer on the right track, maybe need new exhaust and a radiator to boot. Maybe a throttle cable for an FE, also. The perches will need to be from an FE, but you might need to drill a couple holes. the tranny should work, but just make sure the end fits the bushing. Good luck
PS:I seen a dump truck w/428 and thought the same thing. but make sure it's an FE, cuz it might be an FT.
Thanks for the help, the motor is an FE not an FT and it ran great a kid down in baldwin put it in his truck and promptly lost his licences i traded his dad a toploader 4sd for it he drove the truck to our place and we pulled it, its a runner with all the good stuff mirror 105 ribbed and cross bolted block with screw in freeze plugs a 1UA Super CJ crank and a cool old eddy tripower with strombergs to boot. The heads are some openchambred D2 castings think i will run my C3AE-G low risers.
