I have a 99 F-150 Stepside that came with a plastic-lip style tonneau cover. It has crack and frayed and I need to replace it. All I need is the cover itself but the only part number the dealerships show is the complete kit which runs about $380.00. Anyone have a part number for just the cover?
Maybe someone will chime in soon, that may be able to help you. Did you check with the dealer bodyshop? Sometimes they can get certain parts without getting a whole kit.
That doesn't sound like one of the covers we make, but the company that manufactured that cover may have it set up like we do. We don't have part number for the replacement part. We just use the part number for the whole kit and put CVR behind it. For instance, if you had a Truxedo Lo Profile (548601), the part number for the cover only would be 548601CVR. The manufacturer of the cover you have should be able to give you guidance on how to order just the cover.
i had a cover on my 2000 f150 stepside. it's in good shape. the only thing really wrong with it is the corner braces on the brackets. i wanted a tool box instead so i took it off and now it's just sittin under my garage. if you're interested in it let me know.
I had checked out ebay and the only one listed it the snap-on style. My cover has a plastic lip which locks into a frame around the bed. Plus there are 2 braces which lock into the frame to support the cover so it won't sag. But thanks for the info anyway. Lund make a cover similar called a Peel And Seal Cover. I can order the cover separate but I don't know if it will fit.
I had the same problem with the cover on my '99 F-150. I ended up getting a new Lund with velcro and I am much happier with it. I picked it up from Autoanything.com for less than $200. The problem with the OEM is it doesn't have adjustable tension so when it gets cold out, the vinyl gets brittle and cracks.
I have been debating on a camper shell style cover. Since I haul equipment for the Scout troop and Venture Crew, it would be less of a hassle. The hard part is finding one that look good with a step side bed.
