PGD-DL14 is the part number as for the J24C-E4TR-CB digits i dont know yet. And about the extra friction n steel plates, there might be some that are special heavy duty models built by performance transmission shops, but in order for that to work you generally have to machine the drum along witha few other things possily to accept more friction n steel plates.

Do yourself a favor. If this is your first rebuild or you are not familiar with a C6, get a video. They are very helpful in guiding you through the rebuild.
I ordered a rebuild manual I should get it in the mail any day now, the c6 is very simple in my opinion, I think I'll be alright without the video, I rebuilt a th350 once and its still running strong after 33,000 miles, if I find myself in trouble I'll get the video
What do you guys think about the drum, I think its toast
send us a email or call us on a week day. the men"'pat, carmen.joe or myself" will happy to help you out with all your ?'s. we can also supply you with all the parts you will need to rebuild the trans properly.
one major thing before you put the trans back in. flush the radiator/trans cooler out your self or have it done. many people doing this job them selfs don't realize how much small tiny metal garbage winds up stuck inside the cooler and causes a major premature failer all over again when the new oil drives it loose.
I agree, the drum is toast. You should be OK with the manual if you have done one before. One thing that I did on my last C6 rebuild was to increase the clutch count. I am running 6 frictions and steels in each clutch pack. If I remember correctly, I used the highest capacity stock drum, left out the wavey plate and machined the pressure plate. I am using mine in a heavy tow application and has so far been beat hard for about 3 years. When I do my regular fluid changes, the fluid coming out looks like new. Sure is nice when a plan comes together. One more suggestion, if you do get a video, put the remote in a ziplock bag, ha.

Yes many of my friends have found out the hard way what happens when you don't flush everything, not only am I going to flush everything I'm adding an extra cooler and a in-line magnetic filter
Also if I'm to add more cluch plates what all will I have to mod. and which ones need it the most, direct, reverse, or forward or all, I already have the rebuild kit and kevlar band, I'm sorry if I would have known earlier I would have bought them from Level 10 because its a company that I can trust.

k when your torque converter blew, what all happend? like could it still move in one gear or did it still move but really slow? because in my 78, my C6 is really screwed up, i have reverse, but when i put it in drive it goes for a bit then after a while its like it slips super bad. i can get the truck to 40km/hr and no more, and when i take off it works sometimes and then it dosn't... i was just wondering if i might have the same problem as what you have, well had.
you couldn't really get my truck to move, mostly it would just stall the engine, I kind of think if I would have revved it up and dropped it in 1st I could most likely get it going but I'm not sure
In very little time you could have your c6 out, and then you could check the TC, if thats not the problem you could take the pan and valve body off and see what everything looks like, I dont know to much about auto trans. but if its not the TC maybe its trying to engage a forward gear and reverse at the same time.
All I can say is if you can rebuild an engine and shim and set bearing preload on front and/or rear ends, you most likely have the skills that are needed to rebuild a tranny
