High Performance Suspention Rebuild?

This question concerns my 1980 F100 2WD. My front end is a tad loose, needs an alignment, and I'm getting new tires soon . I figure I should just rebuild the whole front end of the truck so that the new tires wear properly after an alignment. Is there any kit availible, or maybe a parts list that I can use to do a nice performance rebuild on my front end to tighten it up? Poly bushings and upgrades and such?

The easiest way to do this is take the truck to the alignment shop and let them look it over and see what needs replacing to guarentee a good alignment. They may charge you a small fee for this. Then you can take it home and do the work yourself.

Sounds like a good idea to me, but is it possible to get anything but run of the mill stock parts for the rebuild? I know Rancho, etc, makes kits for lifted trucks and all that, but I just want a stock-type suspension, beefed up. Going for Lightning-esque handling (or as close as an '80 can get to it).

You can get plastic axle pivot bushings and plastic sway bar bushings, but that's about it for the front. You can get plastic leaf spring bushings for the rear springs. You may be able to get plastic radius arm bushings, but there is some debate about this cracking the radius arm bracket.

Hmm, well that I'll have to look into. It has front and rear stabilizers already installed, maybe all I need are some better bushings, matched shocks, and fresh parts because it does handle pretty flatly and hugs corners well for an older truck - just goes all over while doing it (alignment could be 90% of that too).
