Frame Dimensions

I have a 1968 F-350 cab and chassis with a Holmes wrecker mounted on it (can be seen in my gallery). I was going to restore this truck, but it is not really worth doing beacuse the sheet metal is totally wasted, the brakes need totally redon, the suspension is beat, and the frame is stsrting to rust out. I have decided that I am going to remove the wrecker bed and install it on another cab and chassis. This truck is a 60" cab to axle length. I am thinking of looking for a 1980-1997 F-350 chassis cab to mount this on. Are the frame rails the same width so that this could be a direct swap from a 1967-1972 truck to a 1980-1997 truck?

No, the '80-up has a wider frame by several inches. I have no idea how a wrecker bed is installed, but it might be do-able with some fabrication. (Anything is do-able with some fabrication...just depends on how much!)
