That is extremely cool and for the bargain price to boot. I'd fashion some '52 fenders to the bed, update the drive train, maybe lower it and put on some slightly smaller wheels, and drive it. Is the bed a home built one? Please post more pics of it. If it's not a good bed, I'd even put a flat bed with wood rails on it. Too cool. Hope you're safe drivin' today.
I'd put a "Goose Neck" on the back a make it a Hauler for STUFF.
If something like that passed me on the road, I'd follow it home just to meet the owner.
Well I left Tuesday at 7:30 am to pickup a rental truck to make the pickups in. I don't want to put that kind of abuse on mine. I just made it home it 1:38 am on Thursday morning. The trip went well. I left Massillon, Ohio at 9:00 after picking up my trailer and loading everything up. Two of my employees went on the trip with me. We arrived in Pokomoke Maryland at 6:30 pm 626 miles so far. Here I was picking up a 59 Caddy to take to the person I bought the cabover off of. I got it loaded and strapped down by 7:30. We were starving by now so it was time to eat. After dinner, since the late start I decided to deliver the caddy to Hadley Massechussettes (sp) We got started after dinner at 9:00 on the 8 hour drive. We arrived at at 4:30 less traffic at night, possibly a heavier foot as well. I slept in the truck from 4.30 until 7.30. I could not get ahold of the person selling the truck so I unloaded the car where I thought was ok and it was fine. I loaded the cabover as it was parked outside. I got ahold of PO and he showed up. I paid and it was off to breakfast 9:30 am. We ate at Cracker barrel and left at 11.00 for Coplay PA 5 hours away. We arrived at 4.30 all roads one way and very narrow. I had to drop the trailer and cabover to load the 226 engine. We left ther at 5.30 finally heading home. We made it to Massillon at 1.15 dropped off guys and home to give everyone update. The truck looks decent but still alot of work. Engine looks very good. The cabover also has a 226 in it. I don't know if it turns over or not.
Looking for cabover running boards for sure. I will post some pics tomorrow.
Good trip for the "Road Warrior" but its time for a shower and some good sleep. Talk to you all later today!
Kevin
I am trying to put pics in galler, but it keeps kicking it out for some reason.
Well I finally made it out of bed at 9:30 am. I got outside at 10.30 to take some more pictures and admire the truck. A man was stopped in the center of my street out of his car looking at the truck. He said he drove a truck just like that back when he was young. He said seeing this one sure brought back some good memories. He said they did not go very fast but had good power. He decided to stay while I unloaded the truck.. Good guy, he wants me to call him when I start the tear down. He wants to help. The truck has a 226 in it. I picked up a 226 with 62,000 miles on it. When I finish the other rebuild, I will check these two out. I have an extra gasket set already. The truck will need some work. The PO had the cab up on jack stands and knocked it off and the back of the cab on drivers side is smashed but repairable. The running boards are pretty well shot. I will have to look for some new one. If anyone knows about some I need them. I probably will put in a new driver side floor board, It is very week. The truck still has the original jack with the tools to change the tires. I will clean them up and paint them pretty. There are a few other spots to put some new metal in but all in all it is pretty solid. The PO just sprayed over the truck with black oxide primer so I will be sanding for a while. I very motivated now to finish the conventional cab. I will have the engine back together by end of next week. Seems like a keeper.
Keep the suggestions coming on what to do with the truck.
Thanks Kevin
