Smile Only REVO's

I've had 2-3 sets of the Goodyear RTS POS tires and will never own then again. Put Revo's on my 98 and could not be happier with ride, traction and even looks. Have 18,000 on them and they still look brand new. Great in snow and rain. Yes I'm happy!!!!! Pricey, but they have a 30day return policy that never entered my mind.

I just came back from COSTCO, where I am ordering new LT265/70R17's Michelin LTX M/S. I think the tire is plenty big for my beast (99XLT).

My experience (3 sets on several different trucks over the last 10 years) is that they are as good or better than any other tire for the Expedition. COSTCO only wanted $171 for each tire (plus tax/mounting). I thought that was a pretty good price.

What exactly is Costco? Membership warehouse like BJ's/Sam's club?
Can anyone join / cost?
There's one near where I work, but I've never been there

Yes exactly. It's a warehouse club. One of my friends made gave me her extra card, but if I read the signs correctly at the membership desk, an American Express card may be all you need for a free membership.

It's only two blocks from my apartment and even though I don't buy much bulk stuff myself, I can recommend the footlong hotdogs as well as the tires.

I'll second the recomendation you got for the Bridgestone Dueler Revos. I went though a search for a replacement tire for my 2000 EB 4x4 about a year and a half ago. Searched this forum, looked at prices, considered larger sizes, etc. As far as larger sizes, I found many who said you could go to a 285/70/17. In that size, I think BF Goodrich AT KOs are the best -- great wear, great snow traction (obviously you care about that in MA). Revos didn't come in the 285/70/17, and I could not find the BFG's in stock, so I went with the Revos -- and I'm glad it worked out that way. The tires are excellent in every aspect. Quiet on the road, solid side walls work great for towing, excellent snow traction (as well as wet/dry traction), and wear every bit as well as the BFGs. And as I recall they were priced better than most too. Good luck.

Apples & Oranges

You guys are comparing apples to oranges. Come on fellas, you can't compare a Passenger Class "P-RATED" rated GoodYear RT/S with a LT "Light Truck" Class tire. So now its GoodYears fault that FORD decided to put a lame tire on as OE gear?? Come on now...ANYONE who looks at the RT/S & the REVO next to eachother is going to come to the same conclusion...DUH!!!!...The REVO is a superior Tire...Well NO SHlT SHURLOCK!!!....Its a completely differant tire in a completely differant CLASS!!! Compare the REVO to the Silent Armour and THEN see which one outclasses the other. Now you have two tires meant to compete.

Keep your comparisons at least in the same league...

Truth be told there are MANY GREAT light truck Class tires out there...Kelly, Dunlop, Cooper, Nokian, Jetzon, Hankook and several others. The BIGGEST margin between prices in the SAME SIZE is LOAD RANGE. Our EXPED only requires a 6-ply and can even use a Passenger Class tire. P-Rated tires are less money but if you are running in Gravel you are going to be prone to Flats. If you tow any substantial weight then a Light-Truck class tire is in order.

My 97 Expy 4x4 came with the Goodyear Wranglers RT/S, which were a good all around tire, road quiet and smooth, and gave me great wear (>40k) Then switched to Yokohama Geolanders HT/S since they were dirt cheap...biggest mistake I ever made! Harsh ride, couldn't get them to balance right-a couple tires were badly out of round and had to be replaced, and finally an ominous buldge after less than 20k miles forced them off. Didn't want to spend the $$$ on Michelin LTX M/S, but they are the premier tire for this car, based on all the threads/posts I've read. Went back to the OEM Goodyears and have been satisfied. My 2 cents worth!

If there was any comparison in my reply, which I don't think there was, it would have been between the Revo and BFG A/T. You're right, there is no point in comparing the RT/S to either of the other tires. They're just not in the same class. The question was what would you recommend as a replacement tire. If he was happy with the RT/S, he would not have asked the question, Sherlock.

I 2nd that, I think he was just asking what people recommend as a replacement tire not asking them to compare them against each other. With that said, I've been very happy with my BFG's LongTrail A/T and I would get them again but they are getting hard to find I think they may be discontinued. And, I have no idea how they compare to some of the other tires.

My Revo's are P-rated and they are the best tire I have ever had on a truck or SUV.

P = PASSENGER Class Tire which = Not for any kind of serious use or duty.

LT = Light Truck which = Depending on Load-Rating the tire is designed for light to heavy duty for towing and rough terrain.

What works BEST = Depending on what your needs are as per above, SHERLOCK
