I have To find a way to make a Mechanical tachometer from a 1958 F-500 work in my 1958 f-100. I have the drive cable, and the tach works, but I dont know if I need a distributor with a tach drive for an inline for six, or an old generator off of a tractor that had a tach drive on the back. Can Y'all help me?

Does your shop manual show a generator with a tachometer drive?
I have seen a Ford tractor as old as my truck with a 3 cylinder motor that has a small Generator with a tachometer drive built into the back of it. Did they just use that for tractors or trucks too?
My shop manual doesn't show any tach drive from the generator, either. Sorry about that. Maybe you can sell it to one of the big truck guys and get an electric tach.
Because I want to have this setup working when I finally find a Y-block motor to go in my truck. My truck is more like a hobby to me than a street racer or something. Familiar concept or no?
hey i have a 1960 f-350 with a 223 and i put a big racing tach in it. its cool. Tachs have to be on everything. You could put a 4 barrel intake on that 223 with a 4 barrel carb and header. That would liven up the old beast!
