Blue CPS

My CPS is going out and I read about a new blue one that puredieselpower.com is selling.

I was wondering if anyone has tried one and are there any disadvatages to it. Also, are all the same or do I need to pull my old one to check the part number?

The "blue" is actually for the IH 466 motor. Some people get good results some dont.

I have a blue one that i switched the stock one out due to how it was acting. I like it, i dont see a difference in anything really. It looks like im going to be getting a black one again because of the future DP tuner.

My OEM CPS went early spring. Bought the new "Blue CPS" from an International dealer back in April. Hauled 13k trailer up and down mountains in NL for two months this summer without so much as a miss or a wimper. Noticed right off the bat an improvement in performance...smoother, quieter. The Blue CPS has a stronger magnet in it (I confirmed this in my workshop) which sends a stronger signal to the computer....way to go!

I agree with amiller93, that it works good for some people. I put a blue one in and kept the black as a spare (highly recommend keeping a spare). It seemed to even out my idle smoother. Other than that no big difference otherwise.

Interesting! When I asked International for an oem CPS replacement for my 444E motor they offered both the black and the blue as being compatible. I now would like t know their position on CPS replacement. Anybody know? I hope I wasn't simply lucky in my Blue one working so well as I have been recommending it to many.

if the blue one works and you dont have a chip or tuner then keep it...you will half to go back to the black if you get a chip or tuner..the blue advances the timming a little bit..it was made for and IH 6 banger but works well in some power stokes..a tuner or chip advanses the timming as well.. with the blue one you could cause alot of problems in the near future by advancing the timming too much..

I also run the blue and I also have a six position chip.....no problems. I do have a black as a spare that I was thinking of trying to see how much of a difference it makes.

You won't have problems with a tuner (know by experience), and you shouldn't with a chip.

That being said why not buy two original blacks for the price of one blue. I did not see any improvement to justify the cost of spending more on a product that hasn't been proven in our engines (for long periods anyway).

Ron, thanks for your reply.
I run a blue cps and an edge chip. What specific problems might I expect? I keep a black cps as a spare...maybe I it should be the other way around.

not sure what could happen or how long it could take to happen...i was told that the chip and tuners that adjust the timming you should run the black cause the blue will adjust the timming as well..all tuners and chips were made with a black cps...to get the most out of them is to run what they was programed for..

I have the blue one....

Well I am fixing to get a DP Tuner from Jody and I have heard that he says to use a blue one. I have a blue one, bran new in the box, never even attempted to change if anyone needs the blue one and since it is this time of year....(and I could use the cash) I can let someone take it for $100 including shipping.....PM me if anyone is interested....just figured someone that can use it should get some use out of it and I will get me another spare.....thanks, Dave
