OIL--any API certified CI4+ or CJ rated oil
OIL FILTER--Racor brands are motorcraft, Fram, Oil Guard--NOT WIX anymore
Air Filter--Blue Synthetic Media Motorcraft--there are a couple of supporting vendors who can sell these for about 55+ shipping.
Fuel Filters--Motorcraft or International Harvester with the white aquabloc media around the filter.
Tranny Fluid--MERCON SP--this is ALL you can use and only available in motorcraft brand.....anything else will trash your tranny in short order
Diff's use 75/140 synthetic
Coolant----Ford Gold good for 100K?/150K? not sure--read your manual
The Tech manual's are back up and contain LOTS of good reading and instructions on how to change/maintain your stuff.

B1GKAHUNA,

Yes as "npccpartsman" said. I just have one clarification on the oil filters,
If you use Oilgard, make sure you purchase the Racor oil filters as Oilgard also sells the "will fit" copies that will ruin your motor. The "will fit" copies usually are sold cheapr than the Racor's on their site.

Hope this helps

Also... dont overfill the oil. Although the capacity is 15 quarts you only need to put 13.5 back!!! Some folks have had a lot of problems due to overfilling thier 6.0s.

I have been looking but cannot find any info on how much to put back in the torqueshift tranny.

It depends on how much fluid you get out. If you simply drain the pan, and change the inline filter, all you will need is 8qts. If you do the flush method, depending on your results (I used 15 qts.) you may need up to 20 qts.

The key here is to measure what comes out. That was the biggest tech tip I got out of Bear Hunters flush proceedure.

I was my impression that the oilguard filter will the exact same as the Racor. That is what I have read ever since I joined this site. Please help me asap on this as I just placed my order for filters.

Looking the ame and being the same are two different things... when it comes to oil anf fuel filters.

Look for the "felt" gasket on the bottom of the oil filter and the "Made in Germany or Made in USA" and patent number marketings... if none... it is a "will-fit filter"... if it has the felt gasket on the bottom... then it is Racor made and OEM spec'd.

If you paid $10.00 or so each... I am willing to bet that they are NOT Racor made... but "will-fit" filters!!

Many of us my Motorcraft oil filters at Walmart or our local Auto store for $19.99/ea and just buy one at a time as needed... so no reason to stock up in my opinion.

That being the case, I will cancel my order. Thanks for the info. I thought Oil guard was able to get the same racor filter just not advertised as racor. Then they can also sale Racor for people that want the name on the box. Just like craftsman power tools. Someone else makes them but they put craftsman on the outside. You can buy craftsman or find out who makes them and buy that brand. I was using purolator and they had the felt on the filter. Then they switched to a snap top that was separate from the filter. I am just going to use the stock filter. The filter at International is stock correct?

Before canceling... ask.... becuase I think Oil Guard also sells Racor made/OEM oil filters... but at a higher cost than the "will-fit" ones. Just not sure if you have to buy multiples to save money or if they cost more or less than buying one at a time at Walmart or your local auto store for the Motorcraft labled filters?
