I acquired from a guy I work with a 86 Ranger 4cyl. with 100+k miles. This is to be used as a household junk mover, not so much for transportation.
While he maintained the truck, he never stuck with one place on a regular basic for oil changes. It was either his regular mech., lube places or who ever was running a special. So as far as I know it was always a 10w30 dino being run, but never one brand in particular.
Now I'm a Valvoline guy, running the Dura Blend in my 96 Explorer from day one. Now while I would not be using that in this truck, would it be worth using the Maxlife? I would like to keep it awhile, and wonder if there would be any benifit in using the Maxlife?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would normally give you my standard line, buy the cheapest dino available because it is all the same.
But based on your intended use, it looks to me like you will be changing oil based on months, not miles, and probably only once per year.
It also appears that MaxLife will bring you some peace of mind.
So, in your situation, run the MaxLife. You will sleep better and you really won't be out of pocket very much in the long run.
You know part of me thought the same thing, just buy the cheap supermarket brand.
But I don't mind paying the extra nickel if it will do it some good.
Thanks for your reply.

I think that MaxLife is more than a nickel a quart extra. But even an extra $3-$4 per year is not that big of a deal either.
As far as regular dino, if you watch the sales, you can buy name brand oil for less than generic.
