You are right I didn't even think about checking that, I am going to change my fuel filter and oil today and see how that works out, if the problem still persists I will look into it further. either way I will let you guys know what I find out. thanks for the advise
Has anybody gotten a fuel reset light? As I am driving along, it appears that I get a quick flash from my instrument panel in the area of the fuel reset light. It has never stayed on and I do not get an "SES" light . No codes to be found either. My fuel pressure at idle is at 64 PSI. Any ideals??? 00 F-350
Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your truck? I am having the same issue. I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, removed the fuel screens in the tank, changed the IPR, nothing is working......Thanks,
99 PSD
yes the light actually says "fuel reset" it is not on that diagram but it would be between 17 and 18 directly under the R in the RPM. maybe that diagram is for a later model. mine is a 99 PSD. and I can't take a picture of it because it will only flash for a half second and only while I am driving on the hwy.
When your on the freeway take your cellphone with you and do a video of your dash while driving. Just please be safe doing so. We dont need anyone hurt or anymore SD's in the junkyard.
That is the early gauge cluster, (99-01) the 2002+ cluster is what I have, and is different.
EDIT: I just went out and looked at our early 99. It looks like it has a fuel reset light there, but it doesnt come on during the first couple seconds of key on, like the rest of them do. I wonder if your actually having a gauge cluster issue?
That is how mine used to work and it still does not come on when I start it. only when there is a high demand for fuel like when I drive fast on the hwy. and it only flashes once every minute or so. Is it possible to have a clog in the fuel system past the filter? Seems like I checked everywhere before the filter. my truck does have 180K miles on it. It seems like the fuel is being restricted. That is why I dropped the tank hoping I would find something in there and I was super happy when I found those filters in the pickup fully clogged, I thought remove those and I will be good but it didn't work.
Isn't the Fuel Reset light supposed to indicate that the emergency fuel shut off switch activated. Could there be some wiring problem? Just thinking out loud.
EDIT : Found this in a 2002 owner's manual. Blue shaded Fuel Reset indicates there is a lamp.
I would check all the wires around that switch, maybe one is rubbing through and shorting out. Or, if possible, trip the switch and reset if it has a way to do that, kind of like a GFI plug in a house.
thanks for the imput, I checked that before but did a double check and the button is still pushed in. that light must mean more than one thing?
If that light means more then one thing I can't find it. But I'll keep looking.
Edit : I kept looking. In bottom left corner of attached PDF find the Fuel Reset Ind(icator Lamp). Follow the GRY/ORG wire to the Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch. The switch is shown in it's normal position supplying power on the PNK/BLK wire to the Diesel Fuel Pump Motor. When the swicth trips due to a jolt the power is then put on the GRY/ORG wire to light the Fuel Reset Lamp. I can't find any other use for that Reset Lamp.
I did the in tank mod and the fuel reset light is not flashing anymore and it is has more power but still not at full power. the light that is flashing now is a service engine soon light. I don't know if that will throw codes but I am going to check right now. I did take a video like itsjustdan26 suggested and uploaded it to youtube: (this video if with full throttle on the HWY) YouTube - M2U00613.MPG
Might be from from overboost and then PCM is de-fueling and why you are not getting full power with your foot in it. This will happen if your boost is over 23 PSI and you do not have some type of overboost regulator. Do you have a boost gauge? Does it hesitate slightly when the light flashes?
