New guy, new project
Hi All,
I have lurked around and read a lot of good info, figured I'd join up.
Here's a pic of my current project:

I got it real cheap ($600.00). It came with a Holly projection system that I removed immediately and replaced with an edelbrock performer 750cfm carb. Engine is a 460.
I plan on doing a 4" lift, bigger tires, new exhaust, body work and a paint job.
I read here somewhere that I can use seats from a 1996 (I think) or older truck and they'd bolt right in. I guess the stickies are gone now, so any links to good info would be apreciated. I don't want to clog up the forums with dumb questions.
Thanks for a great forum.

You might want to check your diff tags(metal tags on the diff cover bolts) to find out what gears you have. IF you have 4.10 gears, then you'd be set for 35s, but if you only have 3.50 gears, then you might want to think about doing some engine work, or regear for the bigger tires.
A 4" lift will clear 36s pretty nice.
Good luck in the junkyard. I can spend hours in the junkyard getting all kinds of little things.

Nice find, looks like a steal for $600. The newer seats will bolt right in, all you need to do is use the brackets off of your original seat, which bolt directly to the newer seat, and then everything will fit the original holes in the floor.
Btw, you mentioned that you immediately removed the Projection unit. Can you elaborate as to why? Was it personal preference or did it not work right? What are you planning to do with the projection unit? I am curious because I have been considering this setup for my '79 460.

No idea how to start a gallery, will check into it. The truck looks decent all the way around.
I will look tomorrow and see if I can't figure out the gear ratios
I pulled the projection system for my convenience. I want a simple truck that I can repair myself. The projection system, if it ever failed, would leave me stuck. Now I can carry minimal parts and fix it myself. I traded the projection system for the 750 edelbrock carb.
Thanks all for the nice words.
