As the title may imply, I'm having some issues with my tranny(A4LD). I just bought the truck like 3 months ago. At that time it had a bit of a hesitation going into the forward gears (like 2-3 seconds). I thought OK I'll nip it in the bud and go ahead and change the fluid and filter. So I did that, went fine but no help at all. Then Just yesterday I started the truck drove about 15 miles. I parked went in for a while came back out got in the truck started it, pulled it into D and nothing. no motion at all. so I tried all the other remaining gears. Same results no motion at all.
The shifter moved freely, and the fluid level was fine. does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing my trouble??? maybe the control solenoid or something. all help would be greatly appreciated.
Solenoid usually refers to an electronic device. The A4LD is (mostly) mechanically controlled, so there's no solenoid to go bad.
One somewhat common mistake when changing the filter is not getting the o-rings seated right. Since the filter also acts as the fluid pickup, if those o-rings don't seat right, then the pump just sucks air. If that' not it, then I'm afraid you're looking at rebuilding that transmission.
