How long ago? The prices on them are dropping like paris hiltons pants. the one I bought a year ago is $400 - $500 cheaper at the moment.

Guys, from what I've read, LCD's are rated in MTBF - mean-time between failures.
That "60,000 hours" is an average. Some don't last as long. But can you imagine having a TV that lasts 100 years?
But it's always the backlight that goes on the LCD's apparently. If you want to keep your LCD for a long time, turn down the backlight intensity. It'll go a long way to extend the life of your LCD tv
