door rattling...need adjusting help

have a 94 ford f150 regular cab automatic swb....it looks like aroiund the passanger door the seal is good but it ssems that when you push on the door like the edge of it (towards the keyhole side) it has some play before it is really tight....wanted to find out is there a way to adjust the door (if so how)
to pull the door in slightly to tighten it up some so it doesnt rattle like it is open slightly while driving down road or hitting a bump

Yes you could have worn latch or hinges. To check the hinges open the door a bit and try to lift it. If it lifts and drops easily your hinges are worn. However you might only need to slaken off the keeper on the door closing pillar and move it inwards, retighten and try closing door. If you move it in too far the door may be hard to get to latch in wich case readjust.

no the door doesnt drop at all when you open it...the truck is in very good condition with no rust or no problems for the age.. there seems to be no play in the hinges when it the door is opened..just seems like it need to be pulled in at the latch side/key side...
so it is possible to to loosen the keeper on the door pillar/door jam???

Yes, it loosens but you need a big torx socket to do it, or you can use channel locks like some folks. Make sure the rubber bushing is there on the striker, if that breaks off you will never get it adjusted right. You can get replacements in the "help" section of the auto parts store or you can make your own using rubber hose.

Its not really a rubber bushing. I think its actually nylon or plastic. It should actually be on the torx head striker bolt

you might have to go to the dealer to get it. Seems like I remember Advance not having them. I needed them in mine, I just never got around to buying them before I sold the truck

I just bought one at Advance Auto for $7.44. Now I'v got to loosen the striker with inferior torx stuff. Think I'll go old school with your channel locks advise.

Yeah but just think, it's the last 25 dollar door strike you'll ever have to put on that side of the truck. lol
