Performance Cam and Heads

Does anyone know if there is a performance Cam and Heads for the V10? Or any shop out there with experience with this?

Just figured this could help open things up.

NICE! Camshaft cores are available. Guess one would need to know what they wanted out of there V10...and spec it that way.

Ssshhheewwwww!! I'll bet that's pricey!!! Your just buying cores, than you have to have them ground. That's good to know though. Who's the first one to step up??

I got a referral to a shop in southern california that I'm going to check out and see what they can do. I'll keep everyone posted.

BTW I have an 05 Excursion limited (4x4) with 4.88 gears; 6" lift; 37" Toyo Open Terrain; 20" Diamo 16 carat wheels; Gibson catback and FIPK K & N Intake. I'm going to have Jackson Racing install Thorlie headers and custom tune via SCT flash soon. I know heads and cam would really open this bad boy up.

My buddy has an 06 F250 PSD with quite a bit of mods and that thing moves. We both think we can get this V10 singing even though there are lots of info out there suggesting this thing is maxed out from the dealer. I'm willing to try and prove them wrong -- I'm disappointed that there aren't any supercharging kits out there because I'd consider that route also.

I am sure the SuperCharger kits are on the way for the V10 3v. We got them for our 2v...

My Excursion is a 2v -- so they do have superchargers for our V10? I was under the impression that they stopped making them for our engines.

Cool!

Double check w/ Whipple though. According to Capt Charlie, Whipple has discontinued production on ALL V10 units. You still might find them in inventory somewhere, but once there gone, it sounds like there won't be anymore. No go at all for the 3v guys. I don't know about Kenne Bell. Good luck dude, we need more radical 10's!!!

Love the cams.

As to the heads, I've read lots on the 4.6L heads (non-PI) getting ported and outflowing the PI heads.

So, for the V10 with PI heads, a mild porting is probably all that's needed. A V10 with non-PI heads (pre-2000) would probably wake right up with a porting job.

High-stall torque convertor and wild cams and porting in a Superduty? Hmm....

I'm probably still going for the blower though...

So you don't think the high-stall torque converter, cams and porting would come close to what the supercharger can produce? What about pricing, which would cost the most?

Has anyone been fortunate enough to find a Whipple since they stopped making one for our motors?

How 'bout

Cams for mid to high rpm power
Port and polish
Banks headers
Forged rods and pistons with less dish = higher compression(might need 92 oct)

or

Cams
Port polish
Headers
Forged parts with a good dish in the piston
Turbos or SC

What kind of RPM is possible from the V10 in a modified, but naturally asperated state? The Aston Martin V-12 is good to 7000 rpm - formula one V10s rev to 13,000+ rpm(3.0 liter though).

The only problem with the Ford V10 is the long stroke, which limits the RPM range.

Going with forged rods = good idea.

About the blower, the only problem is money. If you went with a set of cams, a good head port, and some other stuff, you're talking BIG BIG money. A blower might be cheaper
