compatible motors

i am about to undergo a motor swap in my 91 f-150 which has a fuel injected 302 with a 5 spd manual tranny behind it and i was wondering if an older carberated motor like a 351,390,429 would bolt up to that tranny.

i know i would have other things like guages to worry about going from FI to carburated but i just know those systems better and have one of each of these motors and wanted to know if i could drop it in and then rework everything else.
thanks for the help

302 is a small block, so a direct bolt-on to the bell housing would be the I6 300, the 302, and the 351W (Windsor)

The 351M, 429 and 460 have the big block bell housing,a nd the 390 has the FE bellhousing.

IN the 91 most of the gauges should work with a carb'd engine, jsut that you'd have to graft the 91 sensors to the engine so things were measured appropriately.

The speedo is mechanical so that doesn't matter if your tranny stays.

keep this thing efi. locate the efi 351w parts on ebay and local wrecking yards. you can reuse your wiring harness from the 302 to put on the 351w along with motor mounts, accessory brackets. why not let us help you understand the efi system, its honestly not to bad. check out www.fordfuelinjection.com.

thanks for the help guys i am currently weighing my options but soon i will have to make a final decision. the reason i was contemplating carb is because it is much simpler and i run my trucks pretty hard and a breakdown is not uncommon and i just understand the carbeurated fuel system but thanks for the help
