does a 460 motor fit in a 88 150

im about to buy a 460 motor and drop it in my 88 f150 and i wanted to know if it would fit with out any drastic mods. also would the tranny bolt up to this motor

correct me if im wrong guys but im thinking hes looking at buying a new tranny along with other things. this is not a simple drop in bolt up job like a 302 to 351 swap.

i know i would have to buy other things but would i need to cut things in the engine bay out..................thanks about the tranny does anyone have any suggestions on a descent tranny to buy

You could shoehorn the 460 in the engine compartment with NP but you need to get a transmission with a bigger bell housing on it. As for the EFI stuff, unless you are going carburated, you are probably going to need the 460 computer as well as all the sensors and stuff.

Ford put the 460 (7.5L) into the pickup body, so you can buy all the stock parts to drop it in. You may have to hunt junkyards for a while, but it can be done with factory parts and no cutting.

The 7.5L has the same bellhousing as the diesels, so look for a transmission from a diesel truck.

Steve is right, the bodys are the same from the F150 clear up the F450 superduty. The only diff is the springs. You will most likely need heavier front springs to accomodate the extra weight of the 460, if you're goin EFI I would look for an f250 or f350 that is around the same year as the truck you are wanting to put the 460 in it will be easier to buy a complete donor truck than making a million trips to the junkyards..

Is your truck a two wheel drive or a 4x4?

These are the factory mounts that you will need, regardless.

alright thanks guys all that helps but iv been to junk yards for the past 2 weeks and i cant find a thing iv been to like everyone in the county i made like 3 days out of just going to junkyards so i think ill just scrap the idea but thanks
