2001 f-150 shift indicator

2001 f-150 shift indicator
Here's one......Got in my 2001 f-150 and all of a sudden the red indicator on the dash panel has to be almost to 2 to be in D. Something slipped but it's not in the tranny. It's up top in the dash area. Any help?

Okay well your lucky cause im 99 percent sure its not the tranny... okay there is a adjuster nut on the cable that goes from the shifter to the indicator.. and what hapens is one of the sides of the mount that holds this adjustable nut has broken and lets the cable slide out of place and indicate what ever it feels....if you get on ur back on the floor of yout truck with a flash light and look up under the dash you might be able to see the little white bracket im talkin about.... i had this hapen to me about a month ago and i just super glued the white piece together and it has held up great ever since..... i hope this helps you....
