Rear Door Locks

need some info ????? I have a 97' explorer and both back doors will not open from the inside. plastic handles a fine , one is new. they both open fine from the outside handle. is there a way to by pass or check the child proof lock override?? when you pull the inside handle to open it feels like it almost opens the door , but not qiute. need some help

on my 1996 there is a black "switch" in the door jam area under the door handle. ypu push it up or dwon to engage or disengage the child proof stuff. mine was stuck. soaked with WD40 and then moved it up and down a couple times and now it is off.

same thing happened in my 2000 expy, it got stuck and wouldnt quite unlock the child lock, i did the same as steve(ill) soakes with wd40 move its bout 10 times and it stayed from there on out wherever you put it

I have a feeling that you may get more help if you posted in the correct fourm seeing as this isnt the Explorer forum...its F150....also its possible that the linkage inside the door has broken....you may have to remove the door panel to repair or replace it.
